Back to School Friending Meme Extraordinaire!

I have always wanted to do a friending meme in my journal! Why? Because friending memes are super cool, and I am not gonna lie, every time somebody posts one, I think, "Damn, I should have done that."

So I am doing it now! The entry is public, so please, share!

Copy and paste this into a comment and let your colors show! *

* We here at the [livejournal.com profile] rhetoricians friendstravaganza experience make no guarantees regarding the caliber or quality of potential friend candidates, only that she has some awesome friends and wants to share them and make some new ones!

Of course, for this to work, it has to be shared! Here is a link to the HTML code for the sharing portion of our fair meme!

ETA: The HTML code should link back to this entry now! I am a huge derp. Please post away! (there might be a spare "div" in there but if you just delete it it'll be A-OK).

Are you in any of the Harry Potter landcomms here on LJ? (HiH, H_E, etc)? What house? My app at HiH was just posted this week, and so far, it's basically a tie between Ravenclaw and Slytherin with Ravenclaw leading by like...4 or 5, so it could still go either way.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "what the fuck is a fandom?" and 10 being "I love so many fandoms!" how much is your LJ an expression of your love for fandoms?:It's mostly in my icons/layout and sometimes I mention it in entries here and there, so...2, maybe?
If money was no object (eg: every career made the same amount annually), what job would you have? (Don't say anything lame like "no job" or "professional lazyass" - dig deep, people!): Forensic psychology and professor at college on the side. That's what I want to do anyway.
What does the subject matter of most of your LJ entries seem to focus on? (eg: real life, fandom stuff, writing, graphics, etc): Real life stuff.
What are you looking for in a new friend? Do you care about how often people comment?: I like to know people beyond LJ usernames, so I like people who talk about RL more than fandom. Talking outside LJ eventually is fun too! Also, if you have like...500 people on your flist, I am less likely to friend you since it makes me feel like just another number. >.> Having two or three common interests is usually a good starting off point. Bonus for mutual friends! And of course commenting is nice, but I'm not going to...count comments or anything like that. Just comment when you have something to say, whatever. ♥

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "what the fuck is a fandom?" and 10 being "I love so many fandoms!" how much is your LJ an expression of your love for fandoms?: I'd say 4 or 5, because while I post a lot of icons and some fanfic, I don't really talk that much about my fandoms. However, if someone asks me to talk about them, I'm definitely up for it!
If money was no object (eg: every career made the same amount annually), what job would you have? (Don't say anything lame like "no job" or "professional lazyass" - dig deep, people!): I'd still be an engineer.
What does the subject matter of most of your LJ entries seem to focus on? (eg: real life, fandom stuff, writing, graphics, etc): Real life and graphics, mostly, with some fandom stuff thrown in.
What are you looking for in a new friend? Do you care about how often people comment?: Well, I try to comment pretty often, so I like people who do the same thing, but it's not a requirement. I'm simply looking for someone with common interests (whether they're fandom or real life related doesn't matter). It takes a lot to freak me out, and I consider myself to be quite open-minded.

Movies: Murder by Death (to the degree that I know it by heart in two languages), Gozu, Run Lola Run, Shaun of the Dead, M, Whisper of the Heart, Paprika, Millennium Actress, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, The Usual Suspects
Books: The Years of Rice and Salt, Kim Stanley Robinson = favourite book FOREVER. Otherwise I dig authors more than individual books - Stephen Clarke, Dazai Osamu, Diane Duane, Murakami Haruki, Peter David, Andreas Eschbach, Florian Schiel, Qiu Xiaolong, Nisio Isin
Video games: Not *that* much of a gamer, though I love Silent Hill, a staggering amount of visual novels and still have a passion for retro platformers from the 90s - Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, stuff like that
TV shows: Western TV-wise, I've currently fallen for Switched at birth to a truly embarassing degree. I otherwise like Dexter, Being Human, Jekyll, Doctor Who (classic more than nu, Four, Six, Nine and Eleven predominantly - Ten can GTFO as far as I'm concerned, though that's more RTD's than David Tennant's fault), Raising Hope, Misfits, The Big C, Sherlock, Lost Girl, Shattered, Almost Heroes
Asia-wise, I'm currently *really* into Tiger & Bunny and mildly into IS. I like quite a few other anime and dorama, but posting that list here would get waaaaaaaay too long. So see my intro post (http://bemysty.livejournal.com/737942.html).
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "what the fuck is a fandom?" and 10 being "I love so many fandoms!" how much is your LJ an expression of your love for fandoms?: I'm not that much of a fandom person, I'm afraid... I lurk like a pro. The only fandom I'm into right now (to an embarrassing degree, mind) is Tiger & Bunny. But I do post rambling about episodes I've seen, stuff that's bugged me, reviews and so on and so forth, so it's not 0% fandom ;)
If money was no object (eg: every career made the same amount annually), what job would you have? (Don't say anything lame like "no job" or "professional lazyass" - dig deep, people!): Honestly... I think I could find enjoyment and contentment in anything that's in any way interesting. I'm pretty low maintenance.
What does the subject matter of most of your LJ entries seem to focus on? (eg: real life, fandom stuff, writing, graphics, etc): Changes day to day! Sometimes I ramble more about RL, sometimes more about fandom, sometimes I rant, sometimes I rage, it really depends on the day!
What are you looking for in a new friend? Do you care about how often people comment?: My friends come from all over the place. Some are in fandom, some are not, some are much younger than me, others much older, some live in the US, some in Europe, some in Asia, some in Australia, there are heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals, asexuals, omnisexuals, pansexuals, questioning people, transgendered people, married people, people with SOs, singles, everything. I don't really look for anything specific, I just enjoy talking with people, no matter whether they have anything in common with me or not. I am, however, a really shitty commenter, so I don't expect you to comment much either.

I just finished rereading the entire series because I have Potter nostalgia...I'm a big fan of the books, I haven't even seen all the movies, but I'm willing to give the movies another try some day. Video games: Harvest Moon Cute, World of Warcraft, Mario Party, and Lego Harry Potter.
TV shows: I enjoy watching National Geographic specials about ancient civilizations and religious documentaries on Netflix, and America's Next Top Model online. We don't have cable.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "what the fuck is a fandom?" and 10 being "I love so many fandoms!" how much is your LJ an expression of your love for fandoms?: Probably a 2. I am not a traditional fangirl, but I have a few things I like to squee over (gnomes). I reserve that more for my tumblr, though.

If money was no object (eg: every career made the same amount annually), what job would you have? (Don't say anything lame like "no job" or "professional lazyass" - dig deep, people!): Artist and housewife/mom. I don't care if it isn't "politically correct" to not want a "real" career, but I have found much more satisfaction in being a housewife than I have in any other time of my life. I'm not unambitious or lazy, that's just what I prefer doing. If I got paid for being a housewife, you better believe I'd have a VERY expensive vacuum, ha!

What does the subject matter of most of your LJ entries seem to focus on? (eg: real life, fandom stuff, writing, graphics, etc): Real life. I post a lot of photos and write about daily life--my husband, Army life, my cats, cleaning, crafting, occasionally family drama...I have a really blessed life and I'm very thankful for it.

What are you looking for in a new friend? Do you care about how often people comment?:I am looking for friends that are in a similar place in their life (young married--we don't have kids yet, but we plan to in a few years, I love reading about other people's babies and children, so don't be afraid to add me if you have them--or long-term committed relationship, preferably). If there are other military wives out there, I especially want to be your friend! I am a Christian, but that is not a requirement for someone to be my friend. I just ask that you respect me and my beliefs and I will extend the same courtesy to you. I'm not interested in reading about partying exploits every week, so if that is your lifestyle, I'm not interested. I am very domestic and excessive partying annoys me. It's not that I can't stand other people "having fun", I occasionally drink in social situations, but excessive partying is a waste of time in my eyes.
Commenting is nice, but I know I go through phases of not commenting often, so I understand when that happens to others. I'd prefer if you'd comment with purpose, rather than for commenting sake like you are trying to fill a quota or something. I consider my lj friends to be my actual friends, thoughtful comments help to develop friendship.

TV shows: Sherlock, Lost in Austen (both miniseries, but whatever), King of the Hill, Six Feet Under (favorite series of all time), anything featuring Gordon Ramsey, Mythbusters, anything on travel channel, anything on Animal Planet (except Pit Boss, that guy is annoying as hell)
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "what the fuck is a fandom?" and 10 being "I love so many fandoms!" how much is your LJ an expression of your love for fandoms?: 2. I rarely talk about fandoms, since I'm not that into any. I may mention my sorting or something, but it's not anything crazy.
If money was no object (eg: every career made the same amount annually), what job would you have? (Don't say anything lame like "no job" or "professional lazyass" - dig deep, people!)Assuming I could have any job I wanted? I'd be an actress. Acting is something I get great joy from doing, but let's face it, it's hard to get a job acting, and I have found a lovely other dream to pursue.:
What does the subject matter of most of your LJ entries seem to focus on? (eg: real life, fandom stuff, writing, graphics, etc): Mine's on my day to day life. I try and make things not boring, and be slightly funny occaionally. Currently, you'll see posts about weight loss, college life, friends, and my ultimate search for happiness.
What are you looking for in a new friend? Do you care about how often people comment?: I'd love to have people comment on my journals, as I comment quite often on other's. Someone who won't judge me for what I write, as this journal is supposed to be for me, having friends enjoy reading it and actually getting to know me (and me, them) is an added perk.
Please close your comment with an awesome gif or funny picture. I'm not sure how to put a picture on here. However, here's a joke: I Saw two men the other day talking and one says to the other, "I once had a friend with a wooden leg named Smith." The other man asked, "What's the name of his other leg?" (I love Mary Poppins.)

What zodiac sign are you? Do you put much stock in that sort of thing?: Gemini. Aside from thinking it suits me, I don’t give it much thought.
Are you in any of the Harry Potter landcomms here on LJ? (HiH, H_E, etc)? What house? Erm. No. I don’t really know what any of that is about.
Location (or a close approximation): Wales, UK

Video games: Alice: Madness Returns is my current obsession. I also quite like racing games like Road Rash or Gran Turismo.

If money was no object (eg: every career made the same amount annually), what job would you have? (Don't say anything lame like "no job" or "professional lazyass" - dig deep, people!) The dream job is police officer. That’s not going to happen because of my health, so the next best thing would be working for a charity. Really, all I want is a job that I like and that feels worthwhile to me, like I’m making a difference to someone.
What does the subject matter of most of your LJ entries seem to focus on? (eg: real life, fandom stuff, writing, graphics, etc): Real life, mostly. Occasionally photos, usually of food that I’ve made. Sometimes recipes.
What are you looking for in a new friend? Do you care about how often people comment?: Someone who updates fairly frequently. Comments are nice, but not necessary unless someone really has something to say & isn’t just commenting for the sake of it. Hrm. Someone I can get to know, who puts something of themselves into their entries.

Speed
Customers that are honestly fearful about speeds that a viewer can spy their neighbourhood, need to contemplate on how unshakeable the servers are. Although bandwidth and connections are vital factors, server speeds are equally important. A server that is a host to many sites that are being accessed simultaneously may get bogged down. No topic how promiscuous the union is this can sincerely slow down a viewer’s promote to surf auspices of a site. A straightforward avenue to study the expedition at which a server responds is called "pinging" a site. This resolution infer how with dispatch a server can obtain and send back a small report of figures through the relevance you have to it.

Processor promptness is also important. Stable sites settle upon create greater demands on the innkeeper's CPU and will consequence cadenza slower - and leaden-footed down every other orientation on the server as sumptuously (Beginner's Example, 2000). Streaming video and audio, analysis forums and report boards, online surveys, and high-level dash all desire massive amounts of memory and fast access to the duct server. Overloaded processors can slow down a purlieus's transmission considerably.

Server Software
Server software can also affect a site. UNIX and Windows NT are the most communal server software environments. Advanced developers should be enlightened of what applications they drive be using and assess which software mise en scene desire in the most suitable way plea their needs. Some hosting companies single proffer everybody of the two software options.

Shelter
Protecting a milieu's data from unwanted intrusions is another description consideration for the net developer when selecting a host. The hosting corporation's surveillance protocols should be outlined. Refuge from everyday denial of checking attacks and the various hacks and cracks that disposition be attempted on your server is essential. The hosting entourage should be responsible due to the fact that upgrading and maintaining these guarantee measures. "The purely deed worse than having no surety is thinking you possess some" (Discovery the Mob, 2001).

Bloke Use
Appointment is another important complexion to rate when shopping for a host. Hosts come forward a discrepancy of character service options. Services offered can be 24-hour charge sovereign numbers, 24-hour email cure, Frequently Asked Questions pages and help forums. The amount of succour you strength need depends mainly on your familiarity and problems you encounter from the server.

Reliability
Checking revealed the reliability of a serve is also decidedly important. Hosts usually have respective backup systems in crate something goes incorrect with the gas main servers. They also can bond less "down convenience life" via backup power systems such as a diesel generator.
